Early life in New York City, including his leadership of a brass band; activities in Nauvoo, Illinois; exodus west; arrival in the Salt Lake Valley, 1847; settlement in Payson, Utah; marriage Dianthe Hanchett; mission to England; marriage to plural wives Ellen Elizabeth Abbott and Anne English.
